Ah ok et je fais comment pour charger le module intel (xserver intel est installé)car la il fonctionne avec le module modesetting exclusivement (et je pense que c’est bien xbacklight qui fonctionne pas mais j’ai pas de trace de ça dans les logs, j’ai donc que l’écran gris avec des lignes verte sur le coté après le lancement de X)

pour le fichier /var/log/Xorg.0.log il se trouve a des endroits différent selon ton lanceur (gdm3 , lightdm etc …) , tu va le voir avec la date (dernier démarrage de la machine )
pour le xorg.conf , je dirai de le supprimer , avec un noyau 4.8 inutile.
supprimer le driver xserver-xorg-video-intel , le mode KMS (kernel mode settings ) fontionne mieux avec les gpu intel récent

avec gdm3 tu risque d avoir ce log dans ton home.

je connais pas ta distribution , j utilise uniquement une pure debian (jessie ou stretch )
mais passer au 4.8 , supprimer le driver intel et le xorg.conf ça devrait etre mieux (au pire poste un log plus récent )

avec gnome + gdm3 le log du serveur X a été déplacé , dans le dossier gdm3 puis ensuite dans le /home/user/.local/share/xorg/
avec mate + lightdm il est toujours sous /var/log/Xorg.0.log

a mon avis ça prépare l utilisation du driver vidéo en mode utilisateur (et plus root )
Je viens de voir qu’il fonctionne avec le mode KMS mais le pilote xserver-xorg-video-modesetting n’est pas installé, j’avais essayé avec le noyau 4.8 mais ça ne fonctionne pas du tout donc je suis passé au kernel 4.2 et la X se lançait (malgré des problèmes d’affichage du a xbacklight je suppose)

J’ai pas réussi a installer le paquet (https://packages.debian.org/stretch/xserver-xorg-video-modesetting), car c’est un paquet virtuel fournit par xserver-xorg-core

avec debian stretch noyau 4.8.0-1 (aujourd hui il est passé en 4.8.0-2 )
bon gnome est casse pied pour la partie graphique

donc peut etre tester avec le firmware et le modesettings voir le Xorg.0.log ce qu il te dit.

Il utilise le module modesetting mais avec le fichier modesetting_drv.so et avec un dpkg-query -l le paquet virtuel il n’apparaît pas je suppose qu’il doit y apparaître normalement ?

J’ai installé a l’instant le paquet intel-microcode pour tester et j’obtiens des petits changement dans les logs.
le paquet se nomme “firmware-misc-nonfree” qui contient les firmwares pour les cpu récent intel (et le gpu )
le paquet “intel-microcode” c est pour la partie cpu , optimiser l utilisation des instructions (met a jour le microcode du cpu , présent aussi dans le bios mais pas forcément a jour)
rien ne sert de chercher le fichier modesettings , supprimer le paquet xserver-xorg-video-intel , installer le paquet firmware-misc-nonfree
le modesetting entre en action au chargement du kernel (démarrage ) , tu le vois par le changement de résolution (tu passe en résolution native de l écran )
je suis presque sur que en l état de ton log , Mate + lightdm le bureau est correct .
le souci est du a gnome + gdm3 qui est plus gourmand en ressources vidéo
ps: pour le nom du paquet exact c est modesetting_drv.so , erreur de ma part
il se trouve dans /usr/lib/xorg/module/drivers/modesetting-drv.so
je remarque aussi que tu utilise un noyau 4.2 , il faut prendre les derniers paquets a jour pour debian stretch
kernel 4.8.0-2 et le serveur X a jour aussi , ainsi que les paquets ci dessus
enfin pas trop compliqué de mettre a jour stretch avec un sources.list correct
a moins de tomber sur un bug particulier pas de raison que cela ne fonctionne pas .
nota : intel participe activement au logiciel libre , il est bien plus avancé en terme de mise a jour que les autres marques (voir le projet vulkan aussi )
et a la différence d amd par exemple , il est pas contre le projet modesetting de mettre les drm dans le noyau sans firmware nonfree externe (paquet ]
X ne ce lance pas du tout dans cette configuration …

Juste avant de passer a Mate je poste le log X de la config (gdm+kms+k4.8) avec deux moniteurs (HDMI1+eDP1),
Comme on peut le voir il ce lance et fonctionne parfaitement avec deux sorties connectés alors que quand il n’y a que eDP1 (écran embarqué) il ne se lance même pas …

A noté que c’est pas pratique un pc portable avec un deuxième écran pour qu’il se lance ^^ mais plus sérieusement, éditer un xorg.conf pourrait changer quelque chose peut-être ?

L’écran noir et du au faite que X ne ce lance pas et puis ça plante, je ne peux rien faire d’autre que de redémarrer (Il ne génère pas de log du tout d’ailleurs)
L’affichage est étendu oui.
Il n’y a aucun problème sur ce log et le bureau gnome fonctionne parfaitement avec deux écrans mais quand je n’ai que l’affichage sur l’écran eDP1, il y a l’erreur décrite ci-dessus.
Alors c’est exactement le même constat sous mate et lightdm, il fonctionne parfaitement avec le dual screen mais quand il est avec juste l’écran par défaut embarqué, c’est comme gnome … rien, ni log, ni affichage, il doit surement planter aussi car j’ai pas de réponse avec le clavier. Mais dès que je connecte un écran sur la sortie HDMI (et que je redémarre bien sur) et bien la tous fonctionne normalement.

donc quand tu allume le portable sans écran externe , tu n a meme pas d invite de logging la machine est planté.
avec deux écran (interne et externe ) tout est correct.
d’aprés le log que a joint tu n a pas de xorg.conf (avec par exemple les écrans configurés en dur )
je comprend mieux ton problème , mais aucune idée du pourquoi.
en mode automatique sur un PC fixe il n y a pas ce comportement (avec 2 écrans )
celui qui est allumé sera l écran principal . (j ai testé en autre vga + hdmi sur mate )
je vois pas du tout d ou cela peut provenir .
ps: ton premier poste donne l impression que tu a un problème graphique sur ton portable sans plus .

Je pense que c’est du a un problème de compatibilité avec le matos mais peut être qu’essayer de configurer Xorg pourrait résoudre le problème ?
